To get from
45 minutes now to sub 40 in two months should I switch something to hill training,
or wait till May, and what distance is good for me for hill repeats?
Ever come across
folks that are just too rickety for running? I'm 31, 6' 2" 185 lbs. I always
get geared up to beat the tar out of friends in spring races and I end up cutting
my training due to injuries. I make it through the race on race day to hear
their mocking 150 lbs. laughter as they beat me year in and year out.
With Truthful
training how long does it take for improvement to show? Specifically, in another
year could I hope to race at a 8 minute pace or a 7 minute pace?

I currently
run my marathons about an 8:10 pace. Which, is fine, I guess, but I would like

I ran a half marathon in 1:35. I would love your advice on workouts and/or training
needed to accomplish this goal.

so im in the back of the line-ups which is kinda of a downer. I was wondering
if you could give me any advice or tips?
My Life Coach
is helping me address my personal, family and work issues, and has begun to
suggest that I'm becoming entirely too dependent upon my Personal Trainer and
that my running is actually complicating rather than simplifying my life. You
seem to be a very focused individual, Rage. Can you see a way out of this for
me?
I want to
qualify to run the Boston Marathon. That means the number to get me in is 3:10...am

I'm in the
the army reserve and we have a physical training test and the only problem I
have is my 2 mile run. I think that it's a mental thing when I run. How could

and when I do it has to be short distance. I know I need to run more. I just
need running advice to start me off. How to prepare myself before the test?

About a month
and a half ago I injured my IT band running. As I was recovering and had developed
a new streching routine to avoid the injury again, I broke my collar bone in
an incident unrelated to running. The doctor told me to lay off running for
another month and a half so my shoulder will heal. What can I do to maintain
a decent level of cardio while not moving my upper half?
I recently
suffered a ruptured disc in February. I somehow didn't require surgery, but
it was still a very bad case. I took almost 6 months off, and have been trying
to run for the past month or so even though I still feel some pretty weird sensations
back there a few times a day. What I was wondering was how your back was doing.
My immediate
goal (within 3 months) is 1.5 miles in under 11min 30sec. Any training suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.
After the track season
I came down with Achillies tendonitis. So I was out from running all summer,
it was bad. I biked and swam as much as I could, however. My question is what
can I expect for this season? Also what should I do after CC is over to prepare
for track?
20 minutes 5k...that's
my senior's goal, though I'm losing ground fast. My best guess is that yes,
I have to go back to the track and hit some 440s -- if not halfs. My best guess
is to do the 440s in about 90 and the halves in, I don't know, 3.15 or so? I
plan to jog half the interval distance in between. What do you think?
Is there any way I can
get my time to drop about 8 minutes if I start training 3 months prior to the

I posted a nice cross country
season finishing 27th at states, I run about 19:30's for 5k. However, this winter
I ran the race of my life (11:02 3200m) and beat out one of the state's powerhouses.
. . however now I find myself with tons of expectations for my outdoor season,
and in approaching the post season, I just don't feel like I can do it.
I want to get faster. Some
people say to run faster for shorter times. Others say to not worry about how
fast you are going keep my hr down and build a base and later incorporate intervals
after a sufficient base period and you will be faster. The rest say run as fast
as you can and keep pushing yourself. Am I just not meant to go that fast?
Is knowing about running's
past important for the runners of today? If so why is it important and how does
it help athletes now?

get info on local race dates for 2003 in the Eugene area. Your web page is somewhat

mile time under 11:30 during the offseason. What kind of workouts would you
suggest?
My goal is to run a sub
20 minute 5K...I don't care if it's 19:59, and I'll do what I have to to get

a week) or go for shorter runs to focus on increasing the speed?

12 years old. He loves to run. After watching the World Championships on TV

run 3-4 miles without any problems. I don't know anything about running. Where

what's a good combination of hillwork, intervals, and longer runs that would
increase my speed. Just looking for some truth.
Quick one
for you, I recently took up running and the instructor/trainer is giving me
information that I feel isn't correct. I'm told that a good way to get started
running is to run 10 minutes, walk a couple, then run again. This seems like
a good idea to me for training, but I kind of wondered how the more serious
runners pull off the marathon-like distances.
I would like
to start running regularly. However I find If I have a running partner I am
more committed to my running program. Can you suggest a website or group I could
contact?

be appreciated.

three years I have been in shape, weight lifting, running, cycling, walking,
etc. But these stupid cramps developed at the sides of my calves. Doctors say

I'm presently
in the Army Reserves and for the PT (Physical Training) Test, we have to do
as many pushups and situps as we can in 2 minutes... I regularly run on the

What can I do to get my running down to no more than a 8 minute mile?
I am just
starting to run...I am noticing that when I run I tend to lead with my hip joint...This
is hard to explain...it feels like doing a trot on a horse...but is that how

I came across
a quote by John Treacy, Irish Cross Country champion (1978-1979) that lays out

So I'm in
the "joggers mile" at Hayward. Some kid twenty years my junior passes
