If
you run, jog or walk for fitness purposes alone, congratulations.
We think that's great! It sure beats being a couch potato or
a futon cruton as we say in Eugene, Oregon. But, if you actually
want to get faster...if you want to blow by that punk kid who
is one-third of your age, feel the exhilaration of dropping
a runner on a hill like a sack of bricks...if there is still
a competitive flicker in your heart...if you admit that it really
is fun to beat another runner...then what you are ready for
is the Truth.
Let's face it. Handicaps
were made for golfers and bowlers. There's no reason to hold
back and sandbag a 10k time. Despite press and media devoted
to the contrary, running was never intended to feel good. Running
is not a lifestyle choice. Simply put, It's a sport.
So, what's the Truth?
The Truth is that Running Hurts. No one gets faster without
meeting their personal pain barrier straight on. No amount of
junk miles, fun runs or affirmations are going to get you over
the hill at the five mile mark in a 10k. However, what will
pull you through is solid prep with hard hill runs and interval
work.
If that's the kind
of Truth you can handle, get your game on, and welcome.
